OHANA!

This page will be updated frequently, especially as we approach the 2022 swim season and obtain the latest information from CCAA.   This page contains some – but not all – of the details you’ll need for the summer.  As we know more next spring we promise to make sure you know more.

Cost

Costs for the swim team are $100 for the first child, and $40 for each additional child from the same family.  To join the swim team, your family must also have a current family membership to Parkshore Pool, which was $425 for the 2021 season.

Anticipated Practice groups:

  • 4:15-5pm (Ages 6-8)
  • 5-6pm (Ages 9-12)
  • 6-7pm (Ages 13-18)

*Swimmers may bridge into a harder/easier group with permission from the head coach.

What to bring:

  • Mask
  • Running shoes (…wait what?)
  • Any bathing suit
  • Goggles
  • Towel
  • Water Bottle

New Swimmers: Parents of new 4:15 group swimmers should accompany him or her onto the deck for the first practice.

Returning parents may drop their children off for practice but are welcome to socially distance inside with us. Reminder: Children must be 13+ years old to remain at the pool unaccompanied by a parent or guardian (older siblings do not count!)

What about gear? The STMs (swim team moms) and coaching staff will give you all the information you need to know during our kickoff meeting – typically within the first week of May.  As we get closer we will communicate the invite with you by email with the date and time.  During the meeting we will also address swim suit purchasing information, t-shirt info, swim meet schedules, 2022 city meet, and more.  During your swimmer signup, you should have been asked for information about your swimmer:  age, suit size, and shirt size.  If you need to make any adjustments the meeting is a great time to let us know.

Is there anything happening for kids under 6?

There will be lessons happening weekly at the pool, typically starting the first week of June. Times and signups will be posted on the site as we get closer to stay tuned for the schedule.  In past years we have offered a three-week mini-team option also beginning in June.  We anticipate continuing that in the 2022 season.

SWIM MEET SCHEDULE

Last summer, coaches were left to create their own schedules due to the thousand covid variables around the league. Similar to last year we hope to swim against the Sha-Mel-Lon Stingrays, Country Club Phish, Northbridge Whales, and Shadowmoss Sharks!!  As the schedule for the 2022 season comes into focus we will send updates (and update this page). Due to schedule conflicts last year were we were unable to hold a Parkshore Pool Alumni Swim Meet, but we hope to do that this year!

What is a swim meet like? Swim Meets are equal parts fun and competition. Typically, the entire team will swim against another entire team. Similar to last year against Northbridge and Shadowmoss, we may be splitting the team in half by age. Covid protocols are ever-changing and will vary slightly from pool to pool, but during home meets with the entire team, only one adult may represent a swimmer inside the pool area at any given time (with approved exceptions). We hope Covid is a thing of the past next season, but our precautions and protools will be regularly discussed, and the most up-to-date information will be passed to our swimmers and families.

Weather

If cancellation or changes of any of our scheduled events occur, the coaching staff will send an e-mail, text, and announce on our Facebook page. Inclement weather often occurs, and we will make every effort to announce any weather-related calls by 1pm for your planning. We always hope that the weather will pull through.

Please note that we often start swimming early in the season which can be difficult for our youngest swimmers.  The water may still be chilly and your swimmer may be uncomfortable in the water if he or she is typically predisposed to shivering. We support your personal decision should you choose to sit earlier season practices out – it is always up to you.
